Basic Information. The client requires a stress analysis of a reinforced nozzle
to spherical shell junction. A detailed drawing and loading details will be supplied by client but heat transfer coefficients are to be calculated.
The junction is subjected to internal pressure, a full vacuum, pipework loads and steady state temperature.
The material of nozzle and shell is a type 316 austenitic stainless steel. Material properties from ASME Section III are acceptable to the client.
The design code for assessment purposes is to be BS5500 Appendix A, general criteria.
