Research Technical Note: Motor Ship Swanley and its Double-acting Diesel Engine The Swanley was the first British built ship with a double-acting diesel engine. The engine was not a success but did have some unique features and was mechanically very interesting. This note describes why the engine was built and why the unique features were incorporated into the design. An animation of the engine is available.
Research Technical Note: The Sentinel Steam Waggon at Riverside Museum The museum waggon was built 100 years ago, in 1916, during the First World War. This technical note describes some of the features of the waggon.
